As part of the plan to implement a national initiative to offer a practical, temporary solution for citizens to access cash flow through personal financing without significantly impacting their retirement savings, a local financial institution has approached us to help develop a solution within a short timeframe.
About The Client
A leading Islamic Bank in Malaysia, the Client provides shariah-compliant banking facilities and financing products to retail, SME and corporate customers. The services provided leverages the Client’s own digital capabilities and product innovation to better serve its customers via a distribution channel that incorporates its nationwide network of branches and online services.
The Challenge
With only a two-week end-to-end project timeline provided by the Government for the launch of this nationwide program, and with requirements being introduced and changing on a daily basis, a rapid development platform was required to allow for the delivery of a working solution.
AWS Control Tower Landing Zone
Having successfully designed and implemented several AWS Landing Zones for regulated industries in Malaysia, the Uberfusion team started with the design and implementation of an AWS Control Tower Landing Zone for this Client. This approach helped alleviate and address the Client’s concerns on security, governance and compliance. Automation and AWS CloudFormation templates were used extensively throughout the cloud infrastructure build process to reduce manual effort and improve on efficiency and consistency.
Cloud Native Application Development
The application team used native AWS services extensively in the development process to reduce development effort. Key services like AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon ECS, and AWS Transfer Family assisted in providing the base functionalities out-of-the-box, allowing the team to focus effort on developing the complex logic and allowing for changes to be made quickly with minimal effort lost. The use of AWS Key Management Service, AWS Secrets Manager and AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store also allowed the development team to ensure that despite rushing development, that incorporating security best practices did not negatively impact development timeline.
The Results
Despite the hectic schedule, the use of the readily available AWS services reduced the development effort for basic functionalities, allowing the teams to focus on user experience and core logic development. In taking this approach, Uberfusion and the Client were able to successfully deliver the project within the two weeks timeline.
