About Iclif

The Iclif Leadership and Governance Centre (Iclif) is an Asia-based international centre dedicated to executive education, research, coaching, and consulting services in the areas of leadership development, organisational effectiveness and corporate governance.

Created and funded by Bank Negara Malaysia (The Central Bank of Malaysia) in 2003 as an independent non-profit organisation, Iclif is tasked with providing highly-practical and relevant executive and organisational development globally across all industry and government sectors. As the only organisation in the region that focuses on leadership and corporate governance, their aim is to deliver holistic and sustainable solutions to their clients.

Iclif has international faculty members that come from elite academic institutions and Fortune 500 companies. They are mostly based in Asia and conduct applied research in the Asian context. Iclif's mission is to further the goals of sustainability, performance and good governance.

Originally, Iclif was focused on the financial services industry in Malaysia. However, as national and global economies became more connected, Iclif has since expanded into varied economic sectors across Asia and beyond.

The Challenge

As a regional centre, Iclif needed to ensure their digital growth takes paramount importance in their roadmap to cater to wider audiences outside Malaysia. The previous version of their corporate website was inundated with old-fashioned design methodologies and outdated technology.

Programme offerings – the most important of Iclif’s core services – were buried deep within the website with no visible calls-to-action. The sign-up process for courses were also done manually, where users had to sign up for desired courses through the website but make payments via separate channels, e.g. send in a cheque. This resulted in a huge drop-off from potential customers as they find the entire process too cumbersome; preferring to deal directly with Iclif’s sales managers.

The website was also not equipped with the proper technology stack and security measures to protect itself against vulnerabilities and hacks. The content management solution was a custom-built back office done by Iclif’s previous vendor, and they did not provide any documentation or source codes to Iclif during the handover stages.

User-centred Design

We began the revamp journey with Iclif by conducting User Interface & User Experience (UI/UX) workshops with various stakeholders. This gave us a clear view of how the website will be utilised from the content, sales, and marketing standpoint.

With user personas locked down, we then designed a website that ensured that each type of user will be able to seek the desired information easily, and act on the call-to-action buttons in place.
